Someone called me a "Dreamer" a couple of weeks ago. I don't think it was meant as a compliment. But you know what? I've decided to take it as one.
Where would we be without our dreams? How can we possibly live the life we long for if we can't imagine it? Feel it? See it? To quote Oscar Hammerstein in South Pacific, "You've got to have a Dream. If you don't HAVE a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?"
A relative of mine is having some friend issues right now, as we all have from time to time. And I asked her, "If there were anything you could have to ease this pain, what would it be?"
She answered, "An apology".
I mean that sounds simple enough, right? It's what we expect when things go wrong. But this was truly the first time she had articulated exactly what she needed to make things better.
And not 2 days later, out of the blue, she got her apology. After months of trouble, she got exactly what she needed to fix the situation, because she stated what the solution was. The irony was not lost on either of us.
Dream your dreams. Plan your ultimate vacation. Imagine your dream job/house/lover. Revel in the amazing possibilities that lie before you! Because who knows? You just might GET exactly what you want, but only if you know exactly WHAT you want.
I had someone ask about this song. It's from my 2003 lullaby album, Hush. Back when my voice was young, and I had way too much diction for recording. But I do still like the arrangement Steve Rashid did, and I love remembering how I wrote this for a newborn Celia. Time flies so quickly, my friends.
